During our last meeting here, we learned about the history of the Shriners and about the wonderful work they do all across North America. In this session, we will discover the world of research being done at the Montreal Shriners Hospital. Dr. St-Arnaud, Director of Research, will present an overview of the state-of-the-art infrastructure at the Research Centre and provide examples, in layperson’s terms, of how basic research programs can lead to drug development efforts.
Dr. René St-Arnaud is currently Director of Research and Senior Investigator at Shriners Hospital for Children /Canada in Montreal. He also holds cross-appointments as a tenured Full Professor of Medicine, Surgery, and Human Genetics at McGill University. He is an Associate Member of McGill’s Faculty of Dentistry. Dr. St-Arnaud is the author of numerous scholarly articles and is a member of many prestigious organizations in his field. Dr. St-Arnaud currently sits on the editorial boards of the journals Gene (managing editor) and Bone, after serving similar functions for Frontiers in Biosciences, Endocrinology and Calcified Tissue International.
