This talk will help us to understand the basics and allow us to ask questions about different topics including “The Role of Women in Islam”, “The Diversity in Islam” and “The Shia/Sunni Divide”.

Born in Pakistan, Shaheen came to Canada in September 1976 with four young children. 100% Homemaker till her children grew up, she got involved with several volunteer organizations to help other human beings, in particular women.

Shaheen holds a Diploma in Hotel Management. She enrolled in a “Psychology & Social work” program, but she was not able to finish, summoned to be by her ageing mother’s side. Later she was offered full time partnership in her husband’s ship brokering company (now retired).

Since April 2003 Shaheen has been involved with Toasmasters Club and achieved DTM. She is also involved in many other dialogue and advocacy groups. She is a National Board member and Secretary Montreal Chapter at She sits on the Board of West Island Citizen’s Advocacy & Abuse Table.

Shaheen believes in justice for all and will go to any length to achieve it.
