October 1: The 13 Clan Mothers of the 13 Moons

Join us in welcoming Sylvia Bertolini who will present a series of 13 tableaux interpreting the 13 wisdoms in indigenous medicine teaching, each one of them associated with each of the 13 moons of the year.

This talk will begin with a native ceremony, the opening of sacred space and a traditional drum song.

September 24: The 2019 Federal Elections

Now that the election campaign is underway, will Justin Trudeau hang on or will the Conservatives take over? Will the Green Party gain seats? Is the predicted collapse of the NDP materializing?

Our speaker, Adam Daifallah, will discuss possible outcomes and what they mean to Canada, our economy and our place in the world. 

It will also place the election trends in the context of larger global events, in particular, the wave of populism seen in many Western democracies.

October 24: Food Safety Investigations in the Cyber-Era

Media inform the public regularly of food contaminations.

Our speaker, Dr. Blais, will describe how food safety investigators respond to microbiological food contamination events.

He will emphasize the role of leading edge techniques in helping to rapidly identify implicated food products for their timely removal from the market-place in order to minimize public exposure to microbial hazards.
