Welcome to Our Exciting 2016-2017 Season!

For the 2016-2017 season, we are inviting you to enjoy a program offering a great variety of events chosen to be both informative and entertaining.

Topics covered include science, medicine, economics, law, environment, politics and psychology, not to mention music and culture. We hope they will appeal to the broad interests of a sophisticated, discerning and critical public. Becoming a member is a cost-effective way to enjoy these events (see centerfold of programme).

As in previous years, most meetings will be held at St Jax Montréal (formally known as Church of St. James the Apostle). Coffee and cookies will be provided before each lecture at this venue, so come early to mix and mingle with other members.

As always, we are dedicated to making sure that you find your time with us enjoyable and stimulating. Should you want to make comments and suggestions, or if you want to attend an event, but are unable to get there and back on your own, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Welcome to our exciting 2016-2017 season! We look forward to seeing you in September!

A Year of Return Visits

Welcome to our exciting 2015-2016 season! This is the year of return visits by our guest speakers…six in all. One of them from as far back as 1978, and another from about ten years ago! The others were so outstanding last year that we invited them back… and they accepted!

This year again, I am proud of the wide range of intellectually-stimulating events we have planned including wine-tasting with one of the best sommeliers in Canada, transforming a novel into an opera, forensic sciences in real life, the radicalization of second and third generation young Muslims in Quebec, the architecture of our two new super-hospitals, personalized treatments through genomic medicine, and learning from emergency-room complaints, just to name a few.

Most meetings will be held at St-James the Apostle Church again and coffee and cookies will be provided before each lecture at this venue.

We invite you to discover all our lectures and activities for our one-hundred and eighteenth season in our calendar. Come join us! Become a member of the St. James Literary Society – this helps support us financially and permits us to continue to provide quality events year after year. And feel free to bring a friend to our events as admission is free for first time visitors

I look forward to seeing you!
